In 2016, the last year of my undegraduate degree, my classmates and I edited and produced our own zine to showcase our work.
It was called ‘Departures’ to represent the places we were in our lives: about to finish our degrees and move out into the world. It featured fiction, poetry and illustrations.
We held a launch night with readings and a live band at the Poetry Club in Glasgow. Unwittingly, it was launched on 23 June 2016, the day of the EU referendum in Britain — certainly apt for the title!
The night drew a huge crowd and we sold all but 14 of the zines, with all proceeds going to Rape Crisis Glasgow.
